February Update

February is the month of love!  We always enjoy the many ways we get to share with our children and families God’s love for them.  Our Bible verse this month is “Love never ends” (1 Corinthians 13:8) and the Fruit of the Spirit is Love (no surprise there!).

Upcoming Events/Schedule
On February 4 – 8, we will have a station set up in the front hall of the church for families to make valentines for Veterans.  These valentines will then be delivered to the Dayton VA Hospital by church members.  Help us spread some love this month to those who may need their days brightened.

Children’s Church
Children’s Church will be held on Tuesday, February 12 and 26 for our Monday/Tuesday classes and Thursday, February 14 and 28th for our three day classes.   Our next Movie Night is Friday, February 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Please watch for an e-mail from Kim for when registration will be open for reservations.

Valentines Parties will be held on February 12th and 14th.  Each teacher will provide information on the specifics of their class party.

In addition to these traditional Valentines parties, we also have our “Someone Special” celebrations February 20 through 26.  Each student invites someone special in their life to join them for a fun day of classroom exploration and festivities!  Each teacher runs this event a little differently so watch for information from your child’s teacher for what this special day is all about and when their class will have the event.

The preschool will be closed on Monday, February 18th in recognition of Presidents’ Day.  A.C.E. will be opened that day for registered students only.

Parent Connection

We will begin a new “Table Talk” study this month, “Have a new kid by Friday by Kevin Lehman. We will be meeting on Tuesdays from 10 – 11:30. Childcare is available, please email Becky Frost at bbcpfumc@gmail.com to RSVP.

We are excited to continue with our Bright & Fit fitness classes on Mondays at 9 a.m. We do everything from yoga, HIIT, endurance cardio, and Pilates.

We will also be making Valentines for Veterans the first week of February. Look for the table in the foyer and have your kiddo make a special valentine for the heroes of our country!

DivorceCare

We are excited to offer DivorceCare at the church. DivorceCare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. Don’t go through separation or divorce alone. Please call for more information. We will also offer DivorceCare for kids.

ACE

A.C.E will be exploring the North America this month! Usually you think of Canada and Mexico when you think of this continent, but we are going to explore Costa Rica as well! The Costa Ricans live by the motto “Pura Vida.” The kiddos will be writing a gratitude journal to help discover how to live out this philosophy. They will also learn about the red eyed tree frog and have fun diving into suction cup science. The annual Fun Football Friday will take place before the Superbowl, and our annual Valentine’s day celebrations. We will be participating in various ways to spread the love this month!

School Delays/Closings Due to Weather

During inclement weather, Bright Beginnings follows the Springboro School Systems decision to close due to weather or road conditions.  Please listen to WHIO radio, Channel 7 or 2 news, or check at http://www.springboro.  k12.oh.us/ for this information.  We will also send an email to families.  –  If Springboro schools close due to weather/road conditions, Bright Beginnings will close. –  If Springboro schools operate on a one-hour delay, Bright Beginnings will open as scheduled. –  If Springboro schools operate on a two hour delay, Bright Beginnings will open one hour late.

Our Church

Bright Beginnings Christian Preschool, A.C.E. and Creation Camps are special ministries of First United Methodist Church in Springboro.  Our programs share space with the church and we frequently partner in mission and other special activities.

First United Methodist offers worship services on:
  • Saturdays at 5:30 – casual worship
  • Sundays at 9:15 – traditional worship and Sunday school
  • Sundays at 10:35 – traditional worship and Children’s Church

There are many opportunities to get involved for everyone.  We offer youth groups for Kindergarten – 12th grades.  In addition, there are adult classes and bible studies, a strong music program, women and men’s groups and many other ways to connect to the church family and our community.  We invite you to learn more about our church by visiting our website: www.fumcofspringboro.org.
